For anyone trying this on Linux in 2022, the steps that worked for me are as follows:
0) install Wine and VLC
1) download the .msi from this site
2) install it with
Code:
wine msiexec /i tvants_srtv.msi

3) run the player with
Code:
wine "C:\Program Files (x86)\TO Broadcast\tvants.exe"

4) make sure the channel is running in the app
5) run VLC with
Code:
vlc mms://localhost:16900/1

(Note that you can also use mplayer, I went with vlc to see if I could get it to stream to a Chromecast into the bargain but no luck so far.)

I sort-of did the same thing on my Windows PC except I just had VLC and TVAnts open, copied the code in the VLC and it works like a charm, although it needing the TVAnts application being open, unless there's some kind of workaround, kinda prevents me from streaming Star Ray TV on the VLC application on my Nvidia Shield on my TV.

(I'd get an outdoor antenna but A: A few buildings in the way and B: I'm unsure if my housing corp would approve of outdoor antennas.)

Re: help with watching on vlc
Hi Bman78,

Over the weekend we had massive hacking attacks on all our Internet servers including the TVants server. At one point, our broadcast server was attacked and it shut down at 7:30 pm on Sunday while it was on the air. The hackers are using some kind of back door that appears to be in Windows operating systems. Your IP was banned along with several others. We have figured out the mechanism the hackers are using and have patched all our servers. As of today, Tuesday May 16 we are still under massive attacks but the hackers are no longer disrupting our operations. This morning I have removed all the TVants IP bans including yours.

I would like to apologize for banning you and anyone else that was not a hacker. In the scramble to keep the station running we had no way of knowing who was hacking or not.

Any version of VLC will work as long as the TVants application is running and buffering the Star Ray TV channel. I just tested VLC version 2.2.4 Weatherwax and I was watching Star Ray no problem.

Hello! I know this is my first post here, but when I tried that with the latest version of VLC, it didn't work. It just gave me the following message:
"Your input can't be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL 'http://localhost:16900/1.asf'. Check the log for details."

Do I need to downgrade to an older version of VLC? (I sometimes prefer VLC because of some trouble that TVAnts likes to give me)
