Re: great job
Petitioning the CRTC is a waste of time. The government needs to disband the CRTC and replace it with a fair and open regulator that puts the needs and wants of average Canadian's first.

Over the air digital broadcasting in Canada will last as long as there are US stations to watch. The Public has made it very clear to the CRTC that if OTA broadcasting in Canada is discontinued, people will just watch US stations.

Re: great job
Government funding? Yea it's a joke. I agree.... its fucking sad actually, is there a way we as viewers could petition the CRTC?

Or do the major satellite and cable monopolies have the CRTC in their wallet..... and do you think these criminal monopolies will convince the CRTC to abolish antenna transmission in the future? Or maybe pay the TV manufactures to get rid of the antenna option in their menu settings?

If I owned a major cable company owning billions in pro sport teams and stadiums I'd want to do everything to get rid of the evil digital antenna transmission .... (by the way looks better than my HD cable feed I charge 100 a month for no box no HDMI cable ), I would be threatened by digital antenna if I were these crooks, and what scares me is its only common sense that they will probably do everything to crush free broadcast,, just give these fuckers time, excuse my language, I meant greedy parasites...

I hope this never happens...

Re: great job
Thanks, I really appreciate your kind comments. :D

This past year we've added lots of great programming to our schedule. People from all over Canada have responded and submitted programming for us to air.

We've had a movie collector donate several hundred public domain films, a lot of them in HD. There is a movement to remaster old forgotten movies from original camera negatives. If we had to buy all the remastered movies we have on the air it would cost us about $50,000.

The Arts Channel is a fantastic resource that is hardly aired anywhere. That's because it has to be aired for free without any commercials.

Last year people did respond to our fundraising appeal. We did receive enough small donations to pay our expenses for about a month. We have a handful of large donors that have been keeping us going the rest of the time. Many months have been a scramble at the end of the month to pay the bills. We've been trying to avoid running commercials but next year we will have to start running commercials between programming in order to stay on the air.

Government funding of Star Ray? That's a joke! Due to CRTC corruption and fraud the third application we submitted to the CRTC on June 4, 2004 was never acted upon. It's not a fluke that we are the only independently owned TV station in Toronto.

Star Ray TV is carried by satellite and cable in parts of Europe, the Middle East, and Asia but we can't get on the cable in our hometown of Toronto. Rogers Cable would rather put on garbage like the Vice Channel.

great job
Hello.. I just wanted to say great job. I wish your drive success so I can keep watching great programming on Star Ray UHF 15.

Great Doc's about Canadian arts, history, engineering, a wide range of movies, good and bad, some so bad you cant stop watching how bad they are. lol (lots I've never seen before). Commercial free?

The arts? Amazing! I've never seen so much diversity before.

Star Ray TV UHF 15 should be partially funded by all branches of the Canadian Government. Especially the City of Toronto....

And should be available on cable as well.
