Wow, reading this thread, I'm having a good laugh. I can't count how many times I've been banned at DHC, for virtually no reason. This guy Stampeder must be a shut-in, and he's on a huge power trip, or has nothing better to do. You get infractions for stupid things. Sometimes I just play with him, so I can get banned, and then sign-up again under another handle. That whole cabal at DHC is a totalitarian regime. . It takes away from all the fun of reading some of the interesting informative posts over there. I won't dare mention my current handle at DHC because I'm sure they will ban me, and I know they're reading the forum over here. Onto another topic, regarding WBNF. That station is temporarily off-air until they build their ATSC facility, and they are supposed to come back up sometime this month. They will now have a more directional antenna broadcasting away from Toronto, so you guys will have less interference to deal with.

Are you aware that WBNF has filed an application with the FCC on July 28, 2011 for "Remain Silent Authority & Silent Notification?" I don't think they'll be back soon if ever!

The actual application says WBNF got authority for channel 16 not 15. Their channel 16 or 15? is supposed to have a 30 DB gain antenna in a southeasterly direction away from Hamilton and Toronto. For non-geeks this means that WBNF is done causing interference to Canadian stations.

I agree I've never seen a Forum run like Digitalhome.ca . I think they are deathly afraid of lawsuits. Some of the info there is interesting to read, and I follow the broadcast industry. That guy Stampeder seems to be on that Forum 24/7. I had stuff deleted by him in the middle of the night too. Oh well.
In regards to your post about WBNF. They actually filed an STA for going silent for 180 days so they could build their ATSC facility. That channel 16 thing is an error, they are staying on ch-15. I spoke with the head engineer for WNYB which owns WBNF. He told me they should be back up by late August, as it is their last station in the TCT network to convert, due to Industry Canada delaying their application for 2 years. Typical of IC when it comes to a U.S. station. If you've seen their Technical exhibit under another application, everything from Toronto right thru to St.Catherines will be protected from Interference. They will only reach well East of Toronto and north of that.

Actually channel 16 would make more sense than channel 15 in Buffalo with RF-18 going dormant in Hamilton and having an active adjacent high power channel 14. I find it strange that a station would apply for stay silent authority for "180 days or more" if they are just going to flash-cut a translator to digital. As far as WBNF being back at the end of August, I'd have to see it to believe it.

Originally Star Ray TV applied for channel 16 but we were short-spaced with RF-16 in Barrie and couldn't get permission from CBC. Channel 15 was the only low UHF channel that worked since we were able to get permission from Global (the owner of CHCH RF-18 at that time) and TVO to broadcast on channel 15.

We meet the required separations between us and any stations in the United States. The FCC did not object to our application. We also are far enough away from SunTV low power RF-15 in Hamilton. Interference is "deemed not to exist" if the required separation is met. We knew that after the digital switchover we would have less interference.

Stupid ass Stampeder is trying to promote this "interference" red herring with no knowledge of regulations regarding spectrum management.
