Post Broadcasting from Main Street?
I'm not sure how many people are regularly using this forum but I was
wondering if Star Ray broadcasts from where the building is on Main
Street. I've pulled the station in on channel 66 for a couple of years
since switching to an OTA antenna and have always been transfixed by it
but never knew what the station was until earlier tonight. I'm curious
about how many viewers the channel has on average and how clearly I could
pull the channel in from Craven (between Danforth and Hanson St.). I do
enjoy the more offbeat stuff I've seen on there and appreciate the work
that goes into it.

Hi Bobby,

The biggest problem is you have your tuner in "cable" mode and NOT
"antenna" mode. Cable channel 66 is off frequency from our actual UHF
antenna channel 15. 66 will work well enough for you to get an inferior
but watchable picture.

Set your tuner to "antenna" and dial up channel 15. Craven Road is in a
dip, do you already have an outdoor antenna? An UHF amplifier will
certainly help.

Go to http://freetoronto.tv for more infomation on how to setup and fine
tune an antenna system.

I am curious as to the power output of the station, the gain of the antenna to enhance the power output and the location of the transmitter.
I live in the Barrington and Lumsden area in one of the buildings and all I get is a snowy signal.
I am using an eight bay uhf antenna (up to 20 db gain) connected directly to a digital television and receive about 22 channels off air from the Toronto and Buffalo regions.

Thanks for any input,

Ian

Hi Ian,

You are lucky you are getting anything at all. The buildings at Main Square are blocking your reception. A preamplifier would help.

Hi guys. I'm watching the channel from Coxwell and Gerrard. Good signal here and it's just an indoor antena. Love the channel. I hope you can make it work and grow from now on. Good luck with everything!

Post Audio levels
In setting the overall audio level, I used other stations audio as a guide. Our audio level is less than the hottest audio levels on ATSC but louder than the quietest audio. We do a fair amount of post production and real time audio sweetening to make listening to Star Ray as pleasant an experience as possible.
